Sing your heart out with the Gay4Choir Autumn session ! Join our sonic queer community for 12 weekly rehearsals culminating in a very gay performance on Dec 14th.

What to expect:

• 12 weekly rehearsals starting Monday Sept 14th at 6:30-8:30pm.

• PLUS the amazing opportunity to perform for friends and queer community on Dec 14th.

• Joyful queer community raising our voices together in harmony - maybe make a friend!

• A welcoming and empowering choral environment. This choir is about intergenerational queer connection, joy, and sonic magic! We will be working toward a polished and satisfying performance, but there is no audition; We encourage anyone who loves to sing and is able to commit to the rehearsals to sign up. No prior choir experience necessary. Rehearsals are designed to be accessible for less experienced singers, while fun and satisfying for more experienced singers too. This is community, baby!

• We'll sing a variety of music, usually written by queer composers, in folk, pop, musical theatre, and more traditional choral genres. This is a non-auditioned choir with solo opportunities for more advanced singers.

Where rehearsals take place: Lutheran Church of the Cross, 3787 Cedar Hill Rd, Victoria.

When: Mondays starting September 14th through Dec 14th (except thanksgiving monday)

Price: $250-290 sliding scale. Suggested median cost is $275, and participants are encouraged to contribute along the sliding scale according to your means.

Is there an age limit? 16+

What if I haven’t sung in a choir before? That’s ok! Come experience the magic, we’ve got you.

What if I don’t know how to read sheet music? That’s ok too - we’ll teach you the basics but we’ll also give you lyric sheets and recordings of your part to practice with.

What if I sing professionally, have sung in choirs forever, or am a music student? Will this still be fun for me? We’re aiming for a really satisfying, beautifully sculpted musical experience. Even though this is a non-auditioned choir, we’re aiming for the experience to be both accessible and polished. So, yes! Please come join us.

Will there be any solo opportunities? Yes! We will audition for a few solos. Solos are not guaranteed!

About Gay4Choir

Gay4Choir is a new, inclusive community choir for 2SLGBTQIA+ singers of all voice types and identities.

After a year of one-night choir events, and a 6-week session culminating with a successful performance at theVictoria Pride Festival, Gay4Choir is excited to become a year-round choir! 

G4C is a collaboration between gender-affirming Voice Teacher Em Postl (@sweetflagvoicestudio ), trauma-informed Voice Teacher & Expressive Arts Practitioner Anna Bigland-Pritchard (@itme.abp ), and Gay4Nature Collective (@gay4nature )

Covid & Community Care: Masks are encouraged, air purifiers will be working their magic and windows will be open. There is a strict don’t come if sick policy. Thanks for taking care of each other!
