Sing your heart out with the Gay4Choir Pride Festival Chorus! Join our sonic queer community for 5 weekly rehearsals culminating in a joyful performance at the Victoria Pride Festival on July 12th.

A welcoming and empowering choral environment. This choir is about intergenerational queer connection, joy, and sonic magic! We will be working toward a polished and satisfying performance, but there is no audition; We encourage anyone who loves to sing and is able to commit to the rehearsals to sign up. No prior choir experience necessary. Rehearsals are designed to be accessible for less experienced singers, while fun and satisfying for more experienced singers too. This is community, baby!
Choir members will have access to all the sheet music and voice part recordings early and are encouraged to get familiar with the songs before rehearsals start.
What we’ll be singing: Beginning to Feel the Years by Brandi Carlisle, Make Me Feel by Janelle Monae, Silk Chiffon by MUNA, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and maybe more!

Where rehearsals take place: Lutheran Church of the Cross, 3787 Cedar Hill Rd, Victoria
When: June 1, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th from 6:30-8:30pm, and then a performance at PRIDE on July 12th.
Price: $114-210 sliding scale. Suggested median cost is $162, and participants are encouraged to contribute along the sliding scale according to your means. Please contact us if cost is a barrier or if you are a business that would like to sponsor a singer.

Is there an age limit? 16+
What if I haven’t sung in a choir before? That’s ok! Come experience the magic, we’ve got you.
What if I don’t know how to read sheet music? That’s ok too - we’ll teach you the basics but we’ll also give you lyric sheets and recordings of your part to practice with.
What if I sing professionally, have sung in choirs forever, or am a music student? Will this still be fun for me? We’re aiming for a really satisfying, beautifully sculpted musical experience. Even though this is a non-auditioned choir, we’re aiming for the experience to be both accessible and polished. So, yes! Please come join us.
Will there be any solo opportunities? Yes! We will audition for a few solos. Solos are not guaranteed!

Gay4Choir is an inclusive choral project co-directed by teaching vocal artists Em Postl of Sweet Flag Voice Studio and Anna Bigland-Pritchard of ABP Creative Arts, with support from Gay4Nature Collective. Gay4Choir sings music by queer composers of multiple genres, and builds 2SLGBTQIA+ community through the joyful power of singing together!
